There’s nothing like an English Summer.
Saturday 24th August. The long awaited Bank holiday weekend, and the much anticipated wedding of Lauren and Gio! See below for a selection of words and pictures that capture their day.
However, true to the British summer, we had rain – I won’t mention that word again on this post, but rain it did. And rather a lot. But thankfully it didn’t stop this beautiful couple from enjoying their amazing day!
Whilst it was a shame the weather precluded us from fully enjoying the gardens of Fanhams Hall, the positive side was that it kept everyone together in one place. Plenty of drinks flowed and the guests mingled inside this beautiful Jacobean Manor House, keeping spirits high.
Gio and Lauren had a wonderful ceremony that took place in The Long Gallery room overlooking the grounds below. The anticipation and atmosphere in the room was amazing….some of the guests almost didn’t make it, so there were one or two moments of near drama as the registrar kept looking at her watch. Thankfully, everyone made it.
Lauren’s arrival was simply perfect….whilst her guests anticipated her walk down the aisle, her two gorgeous flower girls came tottering down first, making a grand entrance – a cute moment. Lauren indeed looked like a film star as she was walked down the aisle on her father’s arm in her Pronovias designer dress from the Manuel Mota collection. It was difficult for me not put my camera down and just watch her glide through. She looked stunning.
I was delighted to be able to step outside momentarily with Gio and his ushers for a few fun shots in front of the fantastic ‘Bugsy Malone’ style vintage cars which Lauren and her bridesmaids arrived in. The bride sensibly decided to stay inside for more shots with her friends and family to save her fantastic – and massive – dress from the puddles outside. We made the most of the light inside the Long Gallery in the late afternoon as the staff cleared away the chairs, before the boys came in to join the fun.
The day passed in a haze of bubbles and laughter, where I managed to capture the atmosphere in the Great Hall for the wedding breakfast and the speeches as the sun went down. I’m always really engaged by the speeches, as at this point I feel like I know the bride and groom well enough to appreciate the jokes and amusing anecdotes. Gio’s brother Dan pulled all the stops out with some rather revealing photos of the Stag do. I just hope Gio gets his revenge at some point.
I stayed for the first dance and before I left, I did something I don’t normally do, which was promise to return and do a ‘Mr & Mrs’ shoot in the grounds on a sunny day with their beautiful daughter Rose, so watch out for those on my blog soon.
A fantastic day and it just leaves me to say – Congratulations to Lauren and Gio – The new Mr & Mrs Najar.
