Phil and Mary got married at The Star & Garter pub in Putney, which overlooks the River Thames. I’d been really excited about this wedding for a long time, I love a London Wedding with its industrial back drop filled with modern skyscrapers and old architecture, creating a somewhat gritty – yet romantic notion of a city full of history and fortune!
The Star and Garter has just this and more, in essence it’s an elegant Victorian Pub but with a kind of Modern New York interior and a ball room upstairs! It sits right on the bank of the Thames – so it was always going to have a fantastic view of the city and great for some real London style wedding shots.
Mary got ready at the Hotel Verta just down the road with her two gorgeous daughters and bridesmaids, the excitement was already in air when I arrived. I soon found my place and set up a little corner for capturing all those details and tried not to be distracted by the amazing view of the river, all was going really well until Mary’s youngest decided she didn’t want to wear her pretty dress! Aah the challenges of children! She still wasn’t in her dress by the time I left and I wondered how they were getting on as I raced through the streets of Putney to get to Phil with his Best Man and ushers in time for some fun shots while the guests arrived.
I was thrilled to see all the table decorations up in the ballroom above the pub, all named after Fashion Designers! There was an old bike and a typewriter in the room too, (with a letter to all their friends and family to tell them how special they all are!), this all gave a naturally vintage feel to the room. There was even a balcony for me to shoot from. I felt very honored to capture this beautiful wedding and to meet all their friends and family who were all really wonderful people. It was a fantastic day with some real fun moments, and I truly wish Mary, Phil and their gorgeous family all the best for the future.
Enjoy. x
