I’ve been longing to get this wedding finished and up on the blog but this annoying thing called Christmas got in the way!
Well its a great way to start the new years blogging for me, to show you the last wedding I shot in 2014. A beautiful Christmassy half Polish and half English style wedding set just outside London in a gorgeous Buckinghamshire Village called Great Missenden.
I managed to get to Monikas’ place for a few prep shots of her getting ready with her family helping, I noticed the lovely things in their home, the Christmas cards sitting amongst the Engagement cards, the beautiful Christmas Tree and the lights, plus a few pictures on the wall I’d previously shot of them at Helen and Stu’s wedding earlier in the year at Eastbourne. I love how my photography has taken me to meet families plus their extended families and friends, its such a compliment to me and so great to meet the same people time and again.
As I left Monika and Toms home I drove through the winding country roads towards St Peter and St Paul Church, the sun was setting over The Chiltern Hills and there was a frosty chill in the air. The ceremony was at 4pm so I knew this was going to be a dark wedding. Dark as in light, not like strange humour you understand!
This beautiful quaint little church sat on top of a hill and to my delight it had a Christmas Tree Festival inside and was just stunning and full of amazing little decorated trees at the end of every row.
Tom waited patiently for his bride who really did look stunning as she walked down the aisle on her own. You could hear a pin drop as she began her walk towards Tom. The ceremony was lovely and the hymns were fab, Ding Dong Merrily on high, plus God Rest ye Merry Gentlemen! I quite love a good sing song! Then as the newly weds were signing the register, two of Monikas’ friends sang Silent Night in Polish, which was a real treat and sounded so beautiful!
After the ceremony we took a few group shots inside the church due to it being pitch black outside, and then a few portraits for the new Mr & Mrs inside.
Stepping outside into the wintery night air was breath taking, literally freezing! Followed by a swift drive to The Old Queens Head in Penn where the reception was being held. Its a wonderful Tudor barn style room just upstairs with wooden beams everywhere and low ceilings. A great setting for the reception. The first thing I noticed on arrival was the amazing cake made by Toms mum – such a talented lady! And with Christmas crackers on the table amongst the English and Polish flags – it felt really Christmassy!
What an honour to shoot this special day, such a lovely couple with a fab family who now feel like friends!
Congratulations to the new Mr & Mrs Brook! and as Toms Dad mentioned….at least he won’t have to try and pronounce Warczachowska anymore!
