Friday 27th June
This was the first wedding shoot of the season for me! A little later in the year than usual and so I was itching to get going and really excited about this day! Not only because I’d never been to Taplow House before but I’d met Natalya and John around 3 years ago at Soraia and Petes wedding down at Beesands in Devon, so I already knew Nat and John and had met most of their friends and family too. I knew it would be a brilliant day and I felt honoured they asked me to capture it.
I arrived in the morning for the bridal preparations – always one of my favourite parts of the day! There was such a lot of excitement and chaos in the room which really helps with the nerves for the Bride….oh to be distracted by little girls playing dress up and ‘lets put lipstick on near white dresses and hide all the shower gel from the chamber maids trolley’! I’m sure it all helps!
The ceremony was beautiful and went smoothly with a rather emotional groom which was lovely to see, followed by drinks on the terrace in the sunshine!
The weather was touch and go and I’d hoped it wouldn’t rain, however we almost had 4 seasons in 1 day as it started to pour down when we were doing the portraits out in the beautiful grounds…..however, there is a magical tree, so tall and old and surrounded by logs and wild flowers and maybe fairies? – we took shelter there for a while so Nat and John could have a few moments together while I photographed them.
The day went by in a haze of fun and laughter and once the sun came out again it was great for the party to enjoy the terrace while the children played polo and danced around on the lawn.
The moment that stands out for me most of all was the throwing of the bouquet, this started out in quite a civilised manor but soon turned to into a ‘bundle’! I’ve never seen such determination from bridemaids and friends before, it truly was the funniest thing to witness, I’m so glad I had my camera set to multi-burst!
Natalya and John had a fantastic day at Taplow House and their gorgeous girls were such fun to photograph too. A beautiful family indeed. Congratulations to the new Mr & Mrs Marika-Ferris.
